ELEMENT BY WESTIN KUALA LUMPUR

It’s been quite a while since I reviewed a hotel, and I’m truly honored to have had the opportunity to experience Element Kuala Lumpur, the tallest eco-friendly hotel in Malaysia.

A Towering Green Marvel

Officially launched in May 2017, Element Kuala Lumpur rises an impressive 275 meters within Ilham Tower (Menara Ilham). The mixed-use tower spans 64 floors, with the hotel beginning at Level 39, home to a breathtaking infinity pool. The main reception and all-day dining are located on Level 40, while the 252 rooms and suites are spread from Levels 41 to 53. Fun fact: the upper levels house the owner’s stunning penthouse, adding to the exclusivity of this architectural marvel.

As the first Element by Westin hotel in Southeast Asia, it was built with eco-friendly practices at its core. From harnessing natural light to incorporating art throughout the tower, this property offers a harmonious blend of sustainability and luxury. Every corner of the tower feels like a gallery, featuring sculptures, paintings, and access to the Ilham Gallery on the lower floors.

Facilities That Wow

Located just a 7-minute walk from KLCC, the hotel is packed with features that elevate your stay.

  • Fitness Center: Located on Level 39, it offers cardio machines, a full set of weights, and sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur’s hills. You might even spot Genting Highlands from the treadmill. Yoga enthusiasts can join free classes to find their inner zen.

  • Infinity Pool: The heated saltwater pool, 39 floors above the city, faces the iconic Twin Towers. The pool’s artistic tiled design, “Ombak” (Waves), created by a local artist, is best admired through the mirrored ceiling. It’s perfect for those who enjoy a warm dip with a stunning view.

A Taste of Green Dining

The main reception on Level 40 features a stunning hanging art installation inspired by Malaysia’s exotic flowers, such as the Rafflesia and Bunga Raya. The same level hosts Trace Restaurant, which embraces the hotel’s eco-friendly philosophy with its farm-to-table concept. While buffet options are limited to breakfast, the à la carte menu ensures minimal food wastage without compromising on quality.

Luxurious Rooms with a Purpose

The rooms, ranging from studios to three-bedroom suites, are spacious and well-equipped for extended stays. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, while Heavenly Beds by Westin and spa-inspired showers (plus soaking tubs in suites) redefine comfort. Eco-conscious touches include dispensers for organic soaps and shampoos, drinking water taps, and no single-use plastic bottles. Suites are also fitted with a microwave, fridge, dishwasher, espresso machine, and washer-dryer, ensuring convenience meets sustainability.

Final Thoughts

Element Kuala Lumpur redefines green luxury. From its thoughtful design to its sustainable practices, every detail enhances the guest experience while staying kind to the planet. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Special thanks to Kellyn On (Manager, Digital & Marketing Communications) for ensuring my stay was seamless from start to finish.

If you’re exploring the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, don’t miss out on this eco-luxury gem. Trust me—it won’t disappoint!
