Fide Fashion Week 2013
Bonjour | Salve | Hallo | Hola | Kon’nichiwa | Hei | Annyeonghaseyo | Alo | Hello
These are just some of the greetings I exchanged with the fashionistas, designers, socialites, celebrities, bloggers, directors, PR professionals, and most importantly, fashion fans at this year’s Fide Fashion Week. I am truly honored and grateful to have attended this remarkable event for the third consecutive year. Fide continues to impress, year after year, and this time was no exception. With each passing edition, the event has only grown stronger, more dynamic, and even more impressive. I eagerly await next year’s edition, should I be lucky enough to receive another invitation.
What’s been truly exciting is seeing an increasing number of attendees from all walks of life—not just from the fashion industry. Writers, students, lawyers, and stylists were among the crowd, with many traveling from cities like London, Milan, Tokyo, and New York just to witness this incredible spectacle. This global turnout highlights Fide Fashion Week's growing influence, not just within Asia, but on the world stage. Special thanks to Dr. Frank Cintamani and his dedicated team for turning Singapore from a small red dot on the map into a global fashion capital. Fashion is a universal language, and its presence in Singapore continues to spread, with more and more people engaging with and shaping the industry.
This year, I attended five days of shows—more than in previous years—and I owe it all to ZY for the kind invitations. While Julien Fournie was my absolute favorite last year (and still holds a special place in my heart), this year, I was captivated by the breathtaking creations of Guo Pei. Her collection, inspired by traditional Chinese royalty and modern sculpture, was nothing short of walking art. Though form over function, it made a bold statement that pushed the boundaries of what is possible in fashion.
Rather than detail each look here, I encourage you to check them out on the Fide Fashion Week website. Before I wrap up, I’d like to acknowledge some familiar and new faces I met along the way. It was great catching up with Vanessa EQ, Azawi David the stylist, Adrian Jiun from Black Pixon, Richard Chen from Chaoxangel, and many others. A special shout-out goes to the hosts, Uttsada Panichkul and Taya Rogers, as well as the people who made this experience unforgettable: Zulfadli Yazab, Nathaniel, Hafiz Yusof, and Shane Cobain, along with Dr. Frank Cintamani and his partner Edison Cross.
As I conclude yet another amazing Fide Fashion Week, I know that separation anxiety is about to set in. Until next year!
XOXO, Amin.Ayub
