Celebrating in Style: My 24th Birthday Bash at Fairmont Hotel Singapore
They say time flies when you’re having fun, and birthdays make that even truer. Just last year, I had an unforgettable surprise celebration at Swissotel The Stamford Singapore. This year, I was thrilled to partner with my amazing friends at FHRI Group to host an incredible birthday bash at the Fairmont Hotel Singapore. Planning started well over a month in advance, considering everything from logistics to space constraints (no ballroom this time around!). So, if you missed an invite, please know it was purely due to space limitations. Not everyone knows the exact birthday I share with my sister, but it's great to celebrate with those closest to us.
November 7, 2015 – The Big Day
As I turned 24 and my sister turned 16, we were eager to share a memorable celebration with an intimate group of close friends and family. Only the most important people were invited—a challenging selection, but necessary to keep it special. Checking in was a breeze thanks to Adora, Manager of Marketing Communications at the Fairmont, who gave us a fascinating tour of both the Swissotel and Fairmont Singapore. I learned so much more about the hotels, despite my many previous staycations there.
With everything set, it was time to get the room ready. Our deliveries started arriving, though not all at once, which kept us busy running up and down the lobby (the team definitely got a workout!). The Fairmont team surprised us with a delicious cake, a plate of chocolates, and a thoughtful card—thank you for making our day even sweeter!
The Celebration Begins
Special thanks to my family and friends who helped with the setup: my sisters, mom, brother, Aunt Kalsom and her daughter, and Aunt Ain—you truly made it a party to remember! Guests started arriving around 5 PM, some even earlier, including my closest girlfriends who surprised me at the lobby during my final prep. My lifelong bestie, Nizzy, brought stunning balloons—thanks, Nizzy! We'll definitely be calling on your balloon services for future events!
As more relatives and colleagues arrived, we got ready for the cake-cutting ceremony. Although my speech was impromptu and a bit awkward, the evening was a fantastic success. The food was a hit, with very little going to waste, and the display table looked perfect. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and brought thoughtful gifts. We’re especially grateful for those who embraced the Noir Et Blanc theme in black and white, adding elegance to the evening and making it even more special.
